Identification
The Field Vole leaves behind some clues: holes but no mounds, branched galleries, black to greenish cylindrical droppings. Its adult weight is from 15 to 50g.
Living areas
Clay and limestone soils, fields, open-grown meadows, parks, open forests, roadsides, barns, straw stones.
Feeding
Herbivore: Up to twice its weight in food per day.
Nuisances
Damage to cereals, alfalfa, clover, vegetable crops, meadows, seed crops, orchards and fruit trees.
Biological cycle
From 1 to 12 months.
