Identification
Colour: The workers are dark yellow-brown. The males are dark brown, almost black. The queens are reddish brown. Body: The males are 3 mm long. The workers are 1,5 to 2 mm long. The queens are 3,6 to 5 mm long.
Living Areas
These ants originating in North Africa are now widespread in the world.
Feeding
Infestations usually occur in places such as residential buildings, hotels, hospitals and premises containing foodstuffs. Infestations spread to the interior of buildings by technical ducts, rubbish chutes and various cracks and crevices.
Nuisances
The workers are a particular nuisance by their constant search for food.
