Black Ant

Identification

Colour: dark brown or black. Body: The workers are 3,4 to 5 mm long. The queens are 15mm long.

Living Areas

The black ant can be found all over France.

Feeding

This ant nests outside in gardens, under slabs, in the grass, under walls; they enter homes regularly to seek food. They are omnivorous but prefer sugary foods.

Nuisances

They pollute structures by their droppings. They sometimes damage polystyrene. Carrier of mold causing food poisoning.
